1. If you are a good home nurse,
what are the various home nursing techniques that you need to apply that
will make the patient feel comfortable and speed up the recovery?
I will try my best to take their vital signs as regularly as possible, change and clean their bed and give them regular baths. I believe that if a patient is clean and relaxed, will they only be comfortable. A relaxed patient has a higher chance of recovering faster. A back rub will also help the patient relax, and sooth their nerves.
2. Why should the home nurse monitor the vital signs of the patient?
It is not called vital signs for nothing. From the name itself, it is easy to know the importance of these signs. Checking if the rates or the signs are as normal as possible keeps the home nurse alert as to what may come. These vital signs are the "warnings and reminders" of what's happening to the patient's body and if it's affecting their health. If anything erratic happens, the nurses should already be alert.
3. How do you take the body temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure of the patient?
The easiest way to take all of these is by using the appropriate tools or equipment needed. Pulse rate, by checking the pulse beating at the wrist, or any pulse locations. Thermometer for the body, spygmomanometer for the blood pressure, respiratory by simply counting the inhales and exhales of a patient in a given amount of time.
4. What are some practices that the home nurse must follow that will promote comfort to the patient?
A home nurse must understand the patient's needs. Aside from that, the home nurses should always be reminded of their responsibilities so that they may perform it correctly and ensure better comfort to the patient.
5. How will you differentiate signs from symptoms of illnesses and diseases?
Signs are the physical marks from a patient's illness or disease. Signs can already be seen by the nurse and the doctors, while symptoms are only the complaints of the patient. If a patient complains about feeling itchy all over, he's already voicing out a possible symptom of having rashes, and if a nurse is already able to make out the rashes on the patient's body, it then becomes a sign.
6. If you are the doctor, what will be your basis in giving the diagnosis for your patient?
Vital signs, verbal complaints, physical appearance, and their emotional state. If I notice that if something is amiss with the patient, I will be quick to jot it down and observe. I will make sure to be careful and thorough when I give out a diagnosis, so as not to lead the patient astray.
